Putting God’s love into action
Find opportunities for actionReaching out to the Madison community and beyond to the whole world is deeply embedded in the life of Christ Presbyterian Church. Our Christian Witness team connects our members with many of the needs that we can address with personal action, collective reflection and financial support.
We strive to live out Jesus’ call to make the world a place that reflects God’s vision of love, justice and sustainability. Below are some of the many ways we do this.

Refugee Resettlement
In 2022, CPC began to co-sponsor and support a refugee family from the Democratic Republic of Congo, after their long journey to find safe haven and a place to build a new life. We do this work in partnership with Jewish Social Services and Open Doors for Refugees. CPC teams help prepare and furnish apartments for the family, provide transportation, help with groceries, offer language tutoring and a variety of other ways to support such a large life transition for this family.
Learn MoreJustice
Justice is at the core of who God is calling us to be, as shown throughout the scriptures — God’s consistent words, actions and intentions demand of us to work toward building a more just world. At CPC, we seek to engage with several critical areas of justice in our local, national and global community, including immigration justice, racial justice, economic justice, shelter and food security, and education and healthcare equity, to name a few.
Learn MoreInternational Ministries
We are committed to help internationals and their family members experience and enjoy American culture, make significant friendships, and adjust to life in the US. We help internationals improve their English skills by matching them up with native English speakers for conversation and friendship. This also offers Americans the opportunity to be exposed to foreign cultures without leaving home.
Creation Care
We believe that caring for creation and caring for each other, especially for those most harmed by climate change, is central to living out our faith. In response to God’s call to care for the earth and to love our neighbor, we offer opportunities to learn, pray and act on behalf of God’s creation.
Learn MoreVolunteer Opportunities at Mendota School
Our partner school on the North Side, Mendota Community School, is ready to welcome volunteers into the building. The school needs literacy and math tutors, as many students at the school lag behind in these areas. For anyone interested in volunteering in any form, please sign up through this link.
For those who are already registered, you can update your information with this same form. If you have questions, please email Jean Rene or Jean Cowden.
Partner Organizations
CPC collaborates and partners with a variety of local nonprofit organizations doing important work in areas of social justice.
