Transitional Pastor

Sue Melrose (she/her)

The Rev. Dr. Sue Ellis Melrose has vast experience leading congregations and working with the Presbyterian Committee on Ministry. She was ordained in 1973 after graduating from Union Theological Seminary in New York City and earned her doctorate at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. She served congregations in the Bronx, New Jersey and Michigan as well as then serving in various transitional and short-term pastor roles in Detroit and then in Wisconsin in Horicon, Monroe, Baraboo, and Oregon as well as at Covenant in Madison from 2019 to 2020. So she has a wealth of experience with congregations in a wide variety of settings.

She is married to the Rev. Dr. Paul Melrose, who was ordained in the United Methodist Church. They have two children – Rebecca and Ian. And Ian, of course, is married to Cindy Melrose, our director for family ministries. Sue has been part of the life of Christ Presbyterian Church for about a half dozen years and was part of the congregation’s Civil Rights trip earlier this year.
