The Holy Spirit at Work: A PNC Reflection
Often during worship services, we are invited to collectively recite the Apostles’ Creed. I learned this for memory when I was in the fourth grade during Saturday morning catechism classes. The second paragraph begins with:
“I believe in the Holy Spirit.”
Yes, I believe in the Holy Spirit, and during these past ten months as a member of your Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC), I can truly say I have witnessed God at work through the power of the Holy Spirit. God has been present during our many tasks, difficult decisions, listening to each other and listening to the many sermons of prospective candidates.
Since being a member at Christ Presbyterian Church, I have participated in a variety of small groups. These groups have served different purposes. Some of them were for a specified amount of time, others were for prayer, study of scripture and some to offer support/encouragement during life’s challenges. Each one has been important to my spiritual growth and has deepened my Christian faith.
Serving on the PNC has been a weekly small group centered around one ultimate goal: relying on the Holy Spirit to search for who God is calling to become Christ Presbyterian Church’s next Lead Pastor/Head Of Staff. This experience thus far has been instrumental in my spiritual growth at this time in my life. I highly value the gifts of each member and am grateful for how God has been using each one of us during this process.
In closing, I ask that you continue to pray for our work together as a PNC. It has been an honor for me to serve our congregation in this capacity.
