For the imposition of ashes, we recognize that it is unlikely that you have palm fronds from last year for making ashes! A few good substitutes include: eye shadow, chalk, baby powder, or soot/​ashes from a candle or fireplace. Ashes are not a liturgical requirement and you can most certainly participate by simply making the sign of the cross on your forehead. We will also use this time to remember our baptisms, so please plan to have a cup or dish of water you can touch.
