Kitchen Shower

CPC’s Connections Commission is hosting a Kitchen Shower to raise funds to restock our kitchen and provide enough bowls for our all-church events while having a time of fun and fellowship! There will be light refreshments and demonstrations on how to make baklava and use some of our kitchen equipment. An opportunity to decorate a cupcake will also be part of the fun.

Items will be ordered from a kitchen supply company after the event. f you cannot attend the shower but would like to donate towards purchasing an item off the registry your donations will be accepted until February 18th.

We are hoping to get enough bowls for our Lenten meals which start on February 22. More details on how to give coming soon!

CPC Kitchen

Kitchen at 60

It has been 60 years since Christ Presbyterian moved into this building. The congregation was founded in 1851 and spent its first 112 at locations near the Capitol Square. During the next few months, we will offer some highlights of our history here.

This week, as people prepare for the Kitchen Shower on Saturday, here are a few tidbits about the kitchen…

When the building opened in April of 1963, there was slight delay in using the kitchen while folks waited for the kitchen equipment to be installed. But soon after that, a cook named Marie arrived to handle preparation for events. Over time, that work was taken over by groups of church members. And more recently, the kitchen became a hub for international students and friends preparing and sharing their favorite food in addition to all those meals prepared by our Connections group.

It was a decade ago that we last had a Kitchen Shower – October 20 of 2013. Utensils had been broken, spices were outdated. Kessenichs agreed to have a wish list for kitchen equipment and Penzeys agreed to have a list for spices so CPC members could get what was needed.

The tradition of using our amazing kitchen space for food and fellowship lives on!
