Outdoor Book Discussion – July 10

Special Note: In Abrams’ first 4 chapters, she lays out the problem of Voting Injustices.  I found the content of these chapters discouraging.  But in Chapter 5, the book shifts to what we *can* do to address these problems and overcome them. So if you get bogged down, hang on, it gets better. You are more than welcome to attend whether you have finished the book or not.  We meet at Giddings Park; bring a chair, and your favorite beverage. If it rains, we can move into the Gathering Space.

You are invited to join CPC’s Racial Justice Team and Refuge on four summer Saturday mornings (10 AM-11:30 AM) to discuss these compelling titles:

  • May 8 – Settlin’- Stories of Madison’s Early African American Families by Muriel Simms
  • June 12 – Caste – The Origins of Our Discontent by Isabel Wilkerson
  • July 10 – Our Time is Now by Stacey Abrams
  • August 14 – to be determined

Let us know you are coming by signing-up here!

We will follow whatever COVID safety guidelines are in place at meeting times, in Giddings Park (lakeside adjacent to CPC), with Zoom as a backup. Save the dates and start reading! P.S. It’s okay if you are still reading the book, we invite you to attend anyways!
