Christ Church’s Good Friday Tenebrae service is a dramatic worship experience as the crucifixion story is read and the Sanctuary is gradually darkened. Movements of Handel’s Messiah are woven in between the readings to amplify the drama of the scripture. In complete darkness, worship concludes with extinguishing of the Christ Candle and the quiet tolling of a single bell. It is finished. The congregation remains quietly in the darkness and then departs in silence.
Childcare is provided for service attendees.
