Mark writes about the immediacy of the Kingdom of God, now with us through Jesus. Christ saw women, common laborers, the poor and Samaritans, who were excluded from participation in Jewish rites, as part of this Kingdom. The miracles during his ministry point to the inclusion of those considered outside accepted groups. And often, he added the forgiveness of sins, which led to his arrest by the religious leaders. God was rejected by his own people. We, too, may face judgment from others as we seek to live according to God’s plan for our lives. Children will study the works of M.C. Escher, the master of double images.
